The Fear Behind Rest

nature-2296058_640

The school year is officially over and the much-anticipated summer months are here! I’ve counted down the weeks and the months since the start of the fourth quarter gearing up for the freedom summer brings…… only this year is different.  We are in a busy state of activity in our lives……not really ours per se but that of our children’s. As parents, our lives are at somewhat of a resting pace while the lives of our older children are revving up. I think it’s safe to say as my husband and I look over their calendars compared to ours that something is amiss.

Trust Vs. Convenience

prayer-888757_640

We have reached a new milestone with our eldest teen entering the restricted freedom of driving! My heart still palpitates as this new era has caused great anxiousness within me. I’m sure all parents can testify to that! We have encountered some bumps and jolts with our expectations versus the perception of our newest family driver. There is one in particular I want to share.

I Can’t Be Bound

This post was written on Inspired Moms Club by Cindy and we wanted to share with you!

I am guilty
Ashamed of what I’ve done, what I’ve become
These hands are dirty
I dare not lift them up to the Holy one

In life, the words above from Lauren Daigle’s song “How Can it Be” are a constant reality as we go throughout our days. We see and know all to well our shortfalls, our sin, and we hold on to false truths of unworthiness. We want to carry our weight and our burdens as a constant reminder of who we are opposite of Christ and we can’t comprehend the true meaning of the cross. Knowing we are not good enough before God, we refuse to approach Him in prayer and worship believing He wouldn’t give us the time of day. I too am guilty of this but I am learning in Christ I can’t be bound!

The Resurrection of Jesus

Thank you for joining me this past week as we read through the Bible on Jesus’ betrayal, trial and crucifixion. As we read today, we see He conquered the grave and overcame death that we may live with Him one day soon! What a great promise to hold on to as this world with all its troubles tries to distract us from what’s been done.  I close with this verse spoken by Jesus in John 16:33,

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Happy Easter!  He is Risen! He is Risen indeed!

Jesus Has Risen

24 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ Then they remembered his words.

The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus

Today is Good Friday! Many ask how can it be good in the midst of the darkness leading to Jesus’ death. While it is hard to see the goodness in the circumstances and events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion, it’s more of a time of reflection on what’s been done for us.  As we ponder upon the things we have done or have been done to us, not all things are good.  But Jesus came and nailed everything we have done on the tree and took it with him! He was and is the Lamb who knew no sin! He died a criminals death, not because of anything He did, but all we have done against Him.  We are cleansed by His blood ALL because of His love for us!  This is what makes Good Friday, GOOD!

The Crucifixion of Jesus

26 As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus. 27 A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him. 28 Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. 29 For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ 30 Then

“‘they will say to the mountains, “Fall on us!”
and to the hills, “Cover us!”’[e]

31 For if people do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?” Continue reading

The Betrayal and Trial of Jesus

Just as with Christmas, Easter, is a pivotal reminder of what God sent His Son to do for us.  While I can write many things about the betrayal, death, crucifixion of our Lord and Savior Jesus, it is the words of the Bible that speak most to so many.  Join me over the next few days  as we learn about the events that lead to Christ’s death on the cross and the glory revealed and given to us in His resurrection.

Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus

22 Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people. Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve. And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. They were delighted and agreed to give him money. He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.
