Open My Heart to Receive More

Oh Lord, as I sit at your feet I want to tell you I love you. Open my heart to receive more of you. I long for more of you. Take me to that river of life. Let me drink deeply from the wells of salvation. Renew my mind so I can be more like you.

Mary: I am the Lord’s Servant

To me, there is nothing more enjoyable at Christmas than reveling over the birth of Jesus, our Savior and King! It seems every year, something more profound reveals what was unnoticed to me before.  It was a few years ago that Mary made center stage. It wasn’t so much as her being chosen or what she did but in what she said that caused me to look at Mary and life a bit more differently.

Mom Life: Drunk on Emotions

Moms, you know that moment when someone comes to you and says or does something that either shocks you, makes you mad, or catches you so off guard that your emotions take over. The knee-jerk reaction we give in response is anything but wholesome and the raging emotions can set the par for the rest of your day or evening. My husband constantly tells me in the heat of the moment that I am drunk on my emotions and asks to discuss the situation later after I’ve had some time to think.  Sometimes even him saying that makes me even hotter under the collar and I erupt like Mount Vesuvius leaving behind a lake of boiling lava in the aftermath of my emotional tirade.  After I’ve had time to soak everything in, I’m remorseful and wish I had listened to his request.

From the Mouths of Babes

people-316500_1280Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve;  not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock

1 Peter 5:2-3

Missy had just started a new school year and was excited that the band class was able to begin a new book!  The band had worked hard the year before and she was proud of the accomplishments they had made. Who wouldn’t!   A few days later Missy arrived home upset, having to take the old book back to school. “It’s a good thing you didn’t throw this book away!” shouted Missy.   When asked what the matter was and why she was so upset, I received this angry response, “We have a new student and we have to play from this book to help bring them up to where we are!”

Be Purposeful to the Purpose

open-hands-of-god-handsForget the past and look forward to what lies ahead. You must press forward to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus is calling you. The things you once counted as valuable in this world will be considered worthless when compared to what Christ has done for you. Put no confidence in human effort but that which is done with Christ. I will strengthen those who have tired hands and encourage those who have weak knees. Be strong and do not fear, for I am coming to destroy your enemies. I will open the eyes of the blind and unplug the ears of the deaf. Do not lose heart but find strength in Me.

Be Purposeful to the Purpose II

open-hands-of-god-handsGo as I have told you! Do not delay! Do not sit and contemplate the “what-ifs” nor let fear consume you.  Fix  your eyes on Me, the pioneer and perfecter of faith“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Fear not for I am with you.”

Do not let the Deceiver make you believe that you cannot do what I have commanded because you lack education, experience, or appearance. Take heart and know that I’ve chosen you because I gave you a willing heart and your love for me. “For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.”

Like Mary, when I spoke of how she was to conceive and carry my Son, she said, ““Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done with love.Do not doubt your calling, for I am the Great I Am and am sending you!  What blessing there is for those who listen and obey! Do not pass up blessing for the pleasing of man but put your faith in action for Me.
